Edurne Herrán holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country [UPV-Bilbao], and she has obtained different Master’s degrees in subjects such as Art Research and Creation - Complutense University [UCM-Madrid], Cultural Management UC3M [Madrid] and Master in Contemporary Photography - EFTI International Photography & Film School [Madrid]. She also has professional training in Costume Design - Arte2 [Madrid] and Music [Vitoria-Gasteiz].
Her work is directly connected to everyday life and the communication and interrelationship between individuals. Aware of how new technologies and the Internet catalyze and amplify states of emotions, she uses these new social systems and communication dynamics to contextualize some of her projects. In many of them, it is the audience that gives sense to her work, making it markedly performative.
She has been awarded scholarships and artistic prizes such as Montehermoso Cultural Center [Vitoria-Gasteiz], The Ranchito Residency Program in Matadero Cultural Center [Madrid], I Meeting of Young Artists [Santiago de Compostela], Roberto Villagraz (Scholarship & Grant) [Madrid], the prestigious Propuestas VEGAP - Spanish Visual Entity for the Management of Visual Artists [Madrid] and Berlin Senate Art Grant. Museums like ARTIUM [Vitoria-Gasteiz], Andalusian Centre of Photography [Almería], Barjola Museum [Gijón], Stand ABC Cultural at ARCO International Art Fair [Madrid], Museum of Communication [Frankfurt am Main] have exhibited her pieces. Besides her artistic work, she also has extensive experience speaking in public and organizing workshops.

Vive y trabaja en Berlín.
Su obra tiene una conexión directa con la cotidianidad, el encuentro y la comunicación entre los individuos. Consciente de cómo las nuevas tecnologías y la red catalizan y magnifican los estados emocionales, se sirve de estos nuevos sistemas sociales y dinámicas de comunicación para contextualizar algunas de sus propuestas; en muchas de ellas es la participación del público la que da sentido a la obra y la dota de un carácter performativo.
Ha sido galardonada con becas y premios de creación tales como C. C. Montehermoso [Vitoria-Gasteiz], El Ranchito en Matadero-Madrid, I Encontro de Artistas Jóvenes, Beca Roberto Villagraz, Propuestas VEGAP y programa especial del Senado [Berlín], entre otros. Ha expuesto su obra en Museo ARTIUM [Vitoria-Gasteiz], Centro Andaluz de la Fotografía [Almería], Museo Barjola [Gijón], Stand ABC Cultural de ARCO [Madrid], Museo de la Comunicación [Frankfurt], así como en varias galerías e instituciones nacionales e internacionales. Actualmente desarrolla su trabajo artístico e imparte conferencias y talleres en varias disciplinas; también es profesional colaboradora en la escuela Ferdinand Freiligrath Schule de Berlín.

Edurne Herrán hat ihren Universitätsabschluss als bildende Künstlerin an der UPV-EHU Bilbao absolviert sowie einen Abschluss der Kunsthochschule Berlin im Studienfach Bildhauerei. Weiterhin weist sie zahlreiche Masterabschlüsse vor, so z. B. in Forschung, Kunst und Kreation [UCM Madrid], in Kulturmanagement [UC3M] und in zeitgenössischer Fotografie [EFTI Madrid]. Eine abgeschlossene Ausbildung zur Kostümdesignerin und eine Gesangsausbildung komplettieren ihr Profil.
Herráns Arbeit hat einen starken Bezug zum Alltäglichen, zum Aufeinandertreffen und der Kommunikation in zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen. Sie entstehen im Bewusstsein, wie neue Technologien (z. B. das Internet) unser emotionales Befinden beeinflussen und potenzieren können. Die Künstlerin bedient sich dieser neuen sozialen Strukturen und setzt ihre Werke in diesem Kontext um. Die Beteiligung der Öffentlichkeit und die Interaktion mit dem Publikum geben ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit einen Sinn und verleihen ihr somit einen darstellerischen Charakter.
Edurne Herrán wurde mit zahlreichen Kunstpreisen und Stipendien ausgezeichnet, unter anderem durch das C.C. Montehermoso, El Ranchito in dem Matadero Madrid, El Encontro de Artistas Jóvenes, Stipendien-Sonderprogramm der Senatsverwaltung für Kultur und Europa - Berlin und die Stipendien Roberto Villagraz, sowie Propuestas VEGAP. Ihre Werke wurden unter anderem im Museum ARTIUM, im Andalusisches Zentrum für Fotografie, im Museum Barjola, am Stand ABC Cultural der ARCO [Madrid] und in zahlreichen Galerien, sowie nationalen und internationalen Instituten ausgestellt.
Derzeit entwickelt sie ihre künstlerische Arbeit weiter und hält Vorträge und Workshops in verschiedenen Disziplinen; sie ist auch Gastkünstlerin im Programm “Arena-Design” an der Ferdinand-Freiligrath-Schule in Berlin.
