By accident, while searching for the standard size of passport photographs, I stumbled upon a series of templates named ternos [suits in Latin American Spanish]. These templates are images (.png or .psd files) of suits and ties used to overlay on a passport photograph with the face of someone who does not have a suit but needs to get a ‘serious’ photograph for their CV. I'm interested in artifice and semiotics of the suit and tie; I explore the communicative power of clothing to question social status and appearance.

Descubrí por accidente, mientras buscaba las medidas de las fotografías-carnet, una serie de plantillas llamadas ternos. Estas plantillas son imágenes (en formato .png o .psd) de traje y corbata que se utilizan para colocar sobre una fotografía con la cara de alguien que no posee traje, con el fin de conseguir una fotografía ‘seria’ para el Curriculum Vitae. Me interesa el artificio y la semiótica del traje con corbata. En este proyecto post-fotográfico me valgo del poder comunicativo de la indumentaria para cuestionar el estatus, la apariencia y el uso de los uniformes en nuestra sociedad.

Durch Zufall habe ich, auf der Suche nach standardformatierten Passbi ldern, eine Reihe von Vor lagen mi t dem Namen Ternos (Anzüge in latein-amerikanischem Spanisch) entdeckt. Diese Vorlagen sind Bilder (.png oder .psd Dateien) von Anzügen und Krawatten, die benutzt werden, um Passbilder von jemandem zu editieren, der ein „seriöses“ Bild für seinen Lebenslauf benötigt, aber keinen Anzug besitzt.
